INDIRECTLY REPORTS TO - Global Process Owner

FUNCTION - Global Finance / Global Business Service Centres

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Summary – (Role Summary)

- Responsible for Global process delivery, continuous improvement and standardization

- Responsible for oversight, direction and supervision of the day-to-day operations of India-based process, supporting Regional Operations based in the Americas, Asia, and EMEA in line with Service Level Agreements and IHG key objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – (Key Activities of the role)

- Lead and review team operations, specialized transactions, and service quality.

- Key contributor as a member of the Global Leadership Team, contributing to driving the strategic direction and management of the global process.

- Assign tasks to the India delivery team per the responsibility matrix and ensure that they are completed.

- Direct and oversee the preparation of timely, accurate monthly financial statements.

- Direct the preparation and review of work-papers for internal / external auditors.

- Demonstrate expertise in assessing and responding to contractual, financial/accounting transactions, informational and customer service needs.

- Define, implement and monitor standards and policies to ensure adherence to GAAP, IAS, IFRS, agreed global procedures, regional business requirements, statutory governmental regulations, and SOX requirements to minimize liability and risk.

- Oversee process of preparing and reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

- Coach and develop team members: including hiring, firing, assessment, discipline, documenting performance, and recommending salary and classification changes.

- In conjunction with GPO, define performance KPI´s across process.

- Ensure that service quality metrics exist. These will be used to drive service improvements and ensure all customers receive a satisfactory level of service.

- Direct efforts to ensure team productivity is measured, scored and communicated according to standards. Oversee resolution of discrepancies and advanced systems issues, including escalation to GPOs/Head of India Finance and inputs for the Risks and Opportunities schedules.

- Maintain appropriate records suitable for research and internal or external audit in accordance with GAAP, SOX and SAS70 requirements.

- Ensure processes undertaken by the India Delivery processes are consistent with and conform to the global model

- Actively manage the business continuity and disaster recovery plans for the India Delivery process.

- Design and monitor the assigned India Delivery processes to ensure compliance with statutory governmental regulations, business requirements, legal contracts and any other local compliance areas.

- Ensure sound, proper internal controls are in place for the India Delivery processes.

- Provide direction and leadership to service delivery staff ensuring that staff is motivated, understand their roles and responsibilities and have SMART objectives.

- Develop a service led culture where high levels of customer satisfaction are achieved continuously.

- Direct outsource vendor relationships that are pertinent to the processes.

- Responsible for completing input for GBSC Leadership Report and other Global BSC reporting for assigned processes as required

- Budget responsibility for India Delivery departments & processes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills –

- Experience in resource management (e.g. shift and capacity planning), team performance management, recruitment and training

- Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices as well as IFRS guidelines

- Experience in continuous improvement methodologies and practices.

- Ability to lead process change

- Project management experience in organizing, planning and executing small to mid-scale projects.

- Proficiency in developing a culture that motivates individuals and teams to excel.

- Experience in leading, motivating and developing people

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Experience in working alongside a global team

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of PeopleSoft and Microsoft office

- Critical thinking.

- Proficiency in recognizing and resolving problems or inconsistencies in transactions and systems

Qualifications –

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.

- Major accounting qualification preferred (ACA, CIMA, CPA, CMA, and CHAE)

Experience –

- 10+ years progressive work related experience in accounting and finance with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines/processes related to the position as well as 5+ years managing people

- Experience in the design and delivery of process improvements involving IT

Direct - 4-8

Indirect - 40-60

Business Impact –

- The role involves direct responsibility for the management of a team that provides global corporate accounting services and support for the Americas, Asia, and EMEA regions.

- The role is responsible for global service delivery of a financial process for each region to meet IHG company objectives.

Decision Making Responsibilities (Decision Rights) –

- Ultimately accountable for all aspects of service delivery in his/her process – quality, efficiency, effectiveness, internal controls, risk and an excellent customer experience

- This position has impact regarding the prioritization of work and for identifying opportunities for improvement.

- P&L holder for India Delivery team.

- This position has impact on resource allocation, project costs, schedule and quality levels for assigned area.

- This position has significant impact for ensuring efficient procedures are utilized and actionable plans are identified to achieve operational targets.

- This position makes independent decisions on accounts to resolve process or customer issues and to monitor and resolve vendor relations issues.

- Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in potential negative impact to financials of IHG and external owner groups.

Physical Requirements –

- Work is performed in a normal office environment.

- Ability to function effectively in different time zones.

- Work may include regional and/or international travel.

- Ability to oversee staff working various shifts.
