Job Summary

- The Equity Research Associate is responsible for research, portfolio manager’s support, and data collection, statistical studies on the economy, market, industry and individual companies and their securities.

- Through training and on the job experience, the Research Associate learns the techniques and develops the skills necessary to research and analyze investment securities and prepare and present investment memorandums / documentation to facilitate portfolio managers’ security and portfolio selection process.

- Research Associate reviews business and trade publications, annual reports, and financial filings and prepares various financial models for portfolio selection and monitoring.

- He also conducts extensive valuation analysis on estimating the market value of the stocks within the sector and framework investment analysis using various methods i.e. Discounted Cash Flow and Comparable analysis.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities

Time Essential/Non-Essential Activity -

20% - 30%

- Equity Research Associate is responsible for building Financial Models and valuations.

- The associate reviews, interprets and analyzes the financial statements i.e. balance sheets, cash flow statements and income statements and prepares necessary projections / performs sensitivity analysis for portfolio management team to arrive at the intrinsic value of the stock.

- Perform Comparable Analysis.

- Perform merger consequence analysis

30%-40%

- Independently create the following Sections as part of Investment Memo – Company Overview, Segmental Information, Financial Performance, BOD & Management, Funding (where required), Competitive Strengths,

- Risks and Investment Highlights.

- Support PMs in developing the following sections of the Investment Memo – Strategy & Expansion Plans,

- Exit Strategy and Investment Recommendations

10%-20%

- Create Industry research reports by leveraging various sources i.e. online, Bloomberg, third party broker reports, central bank etc.

10%-20%

- Support PMs by maintaining and updating stock screener and Portfolio Tracker

30%-40%

- Reviews the analyst’s deliverables and provides guidance, coaching and support to equity research analyst. Conduct Performance Reviews of Analysts along with PMs and Director.
