The founding team includes:

- An MIT PhD, Sloan MBA, Worked with McKinsey and Lehman Brothers

- An EECS grad from Cornell, former investment banker at UBS

- An MIT EECS grad, with experience, passion building online systems

We raised seed capital in November of 2008 (during the worst of times), launched the site publicly in of November 2009 and have seen excellent user adoption. In June 2010, we raised our first venture round. We are now looking to expand our team. This is an exciting time for our business, so if you are looking to make a ton of impact working with a small team, we want to hear from you.

People in our close group of mentors and advisers refer to Trefis as a big swing at a large space. If successful, we expect to redefine at the fundamental level, how individuals, both institutional and retail, access and use business news/information, and how corporations raise capital from the public.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

If you want to be an internet entrepreneur this is a dream opportunity. You will play a key role in setting the tone, and being a quality guard for the analysis presented on the site. We believe it takes years to build a sound reputation but minutes to destroy it all, as such this is a critical role for the company

The incoming person will be responsible for

1. Generating insights for articles, and editing daily articles/analysis developed by the analyst team. You will work closely with the team of analysts (all IIT/IIM grads), to help us communicate the analysis effectively and in a simple/easy-to-understand manner

2. Editing textual explanations/rationale provided on the platform

3. Identifying potential gaps in analysis or arguments, and not only fixing them, but developing internal processes to reduce their occurrence

4. Helping focus the analysis on the message rather than business or financial jargon

5. Guiding the overall positioning of the tone, language, and branding of the analysis communicated on the site

The right person will have

1. BA/BS, MS, MBA especially business savvy candidates with English, journalism, or, logic and reasoning majors may find themselves at an advantage

2. Excellent written communication skills

3. Ability to structure and present arguments in support of a position clearly will be a key asset

4. Curious about understanding what drives the value of a company or business

5. Curious about investing, finance and startups

6. Considers it fun staying on top of current events and market responses

7. Interest in US markets
