This position is for our leading client in Chennai, A large multilateral organisation.
Job Purpose: This position is responsible for overseeing all the activities pertaining to the four units consisting of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Transaction Processing & Analytics (TP&A). The position ensures that the staff are well managed and that the work program is delivered in the most efficient and effective manner in conjunction and coordination with colleagues in Headquarters (HQ).
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides leadership oversight of the accounting procedures and business functions performed by each of the units (A/P, A/R, Payroll , TP&A) ensuring high quality of deliverable on a timely basis;
- Coordinates with Manager in HQ to plan recruitment of staff, set selection criteria according to skill sets and competencies required for a particular job, hire the best resources available in the market place and build a motivated team.
- Within the established framework, takes initiative to improve process and approaches, demonstrating adaptability to changing priorities and demonstrating innovative technical leadership.
- Establishes, in conjunction with counterparts in HQ, effective work procedures to ensure that all activities are undertaken in accordance with requirements specified in the Service Level Agreements;
- Within the SAP framework takes a lead role in designing, developing and monitoring an adequate system of risk management and internal controls over units' financial transactions and business operations.
- Reviews and approves all transactions above established value thresholds;
- Builds, sustains, manages relationships with clients (internal and external), management and employees to build business and achieve institutional goals in an effective manner.
- Proactively leads and plans local implementation of changes in processes, the business side of system software changes, and adjustments to process control practices;
- Provides support to the Center Manager as part of the CTRCO Management Team on various center level matters including staff development, functional metrics, operations report, management reporting etc.
- Ensures effective, frequent and candid communication on India operations to HQ management.
- Effectively assists management in the review of operational directives and related financial policies and procedures affecting accounting systems within the administrative expense;
- Proactively leads and identifies problems and opportunities for improvements in current processes and work with HQ counter parts to implement solutions;
- Reviews and comments on specifications for system enhancements, ensuring testing is adequate, problems faced during testing are documented, and addressed.
- Coaches and guides staff as necessary and provides them timely feedback on their performance.
- Takes the lead in working with the Team Leaders in reallocation of staff resources within as well as between units so as to optimize use and create opportunities for staff rotation.
Key Performance Attributes (Personal characteristics/selection criteria)
- A relevant Bachelor's Degree (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics) PLUS a Certified Public/Chartered Accountant and at least 8 years of relevant and progressive experience in multinational corporate accounting operations. Experience with an international private or an accounting firm is desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll processes of the Bank and related polices.
- Demonstrated team leadership, project management, and problem solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all level of client management and staff and Bank management.
- Strong understanding of the Bank’s Operational Risk Management framework as it related to the evaluation and documentation of the A/P, A/R, Payroll, TP&A processes.
- Demonstrated strong judgmental/analytical skills.
- Ability to coach/mentor staff.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze process requirements and translate them into design specifications for process changes and/or automated solutions.
- Good understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and proper accounting controls over accounting process and financial reporting operations; familiarity with generally accepted auditing standards in these areas.
- Good communication skills to explain and express views clearly and confidently.
- Meets or exceeds the competency levels as mentioned in Annex-A below.
