Process Name (Operations only): US/ UK Finance team
Synopsis of Role:
The Manager will be responsible for leading the reconciliation utility that provide offshore support to the Finance teams. The position has overall responsibility for the reconciliation process including setting standards, interpretation of corporate policies, providing guidance, training, reporting and management of the reconcilement process. He/ she will be responsible for ensuring that the reconciliations are completed in accordance with the Company’s General Ledger Balance sheet & Income statement reconciliation policy and internal operating procedures and that the documentation is easy to follow and completely supports the reconcilement.
The Manager will be responsible for supervising, organising, motivating, hiring quality resources and leading the team to ensure timely and accurate performance. He/ she would also be responsible for transitioning new reconciliation processes. He/ she has to ensure that the process is compliant with audit/internal control/ risk requirements. The role will be responsible for identification and implementation of process enhancements that will both strengthen the control environment and improve operational efficiency
The position has a reporting line to the Service Delivery Leader, based in Pune and a matrix dotted line into the respective LOBs.
Key Accountabilities:
- Reconciliations
- Ensure that the account balances have been reconciled with the appropriate subsidiary records, proper supporting documentation is included for every reconciling item, the reconciling items have been resolved appropriately, accurate ageing of open items and items exceeding business standards have been escalated to the management
- Ensure that accounts being reconciled complies with CAP / GAAP, as instructed by the technical accounting team
- Monthly review of intercompany account balances, including confirmation/agreement of balances with counterparty
- Coordination of monthly settlement of all intercompany payable, receivable accounts
- Ensure Settlement of inter-company balances on a monthly basis
- Responsibility for the delivery of training to team members on reconciliation best practice.
- Proactively work with the offshore controllers to determine the business standard for each account and establishing the process for approving aging schedules and escalation of approval for carrying aged balances or reconciling items
- Reporting
- Developing metrics to assess employee performance on reconciliations to assist in the performance management process
- Ensuring timely reconcilement status, aging reports and KPI’s are sent to the appropriate management groups
- Quarterly report to Corporate Finance of profit and loss (P&L) adjustments >$100,000
- Ensuring management is immediately made aware of any possible significant write-offs and elevating other reconcilement issues of concern
- HR Operations Support
- Responsible for all Finance / HR related tasks and deliverables
- Employee Related
- Responsible for all activities relating to staff supervision, including managing / reviewing work, appraisals and training etc.
- Ensure hiring is completed on a timely basis with suitable staff
- Assign reconcilers and reviewers to appropriate accounts, ensuring that they receive adequate training and that they understand the underlying transactions in the accounts
- Arrange for CAP and GAAP training to ensure reconcilers and reviewers are familiar with impact on the accounts for which they are responsible
- Arrange workshops and other training sessions to supplement the Corporation’s training course
- Ensure all team positions are covered on a timely basis with suitable staff
- Ensure that employees successfully complete the Corporation’s reconciliation training within 60 days from the date the employees are assigned reconcilement or review responsibility
- Process Improvements / Quality
- Coordinate and implement process improvement and automation initiatives
- Perform regular routine Quality Assurance reviews (QA reviews) on sample reconciliations to confirm that quality is being upheld and the global reconciliations policy complied with
- Monitor the inter-company reconciliations and associated breaks and coordinate with Onshore on the development of improved HFM intercompany reports to facilitate improved reconciliation, investigation & resolution of breaks between counter-parties.

Key Technical Competencies/Knowledge:
- Previous experience gained should include
- UK/US GAAP, SOX knowledge and a good understanding of accounting concepts
- Exposure to a wide range of accounting processes and issues.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to deal with people at different levels of the organization
- Handled team of 40-60 members.
- Strong operational and technical accounting knowledge
- In-depth knowledge and experience of reconciliations and associated accounting controls
- Strong supervisory skills and experience
- Experience of working in a strong Internal Control environment
- Good problem solving skills.
- Should proactively identify & resolve process, accounting and reconciliation issues, including an acquisitive mind and the confidence to probe and ask questions but also the ability to offer solutions to issues.
- Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate significant progress in achieving process improvements and control enhancements.
Project management skills would be desirable but not essential
