Group Credit Head (Group Credit Controller) for Oman

One of our clients in the Middle East needs to fill the following position asap.

Position : Group Credit Head ( Group Credit Controller )

Education : CA/ CFA/ MBA - Finance/ Equivalent

Experience : 10 - 14 years in risk assessment in a commercial business environment, with a minimum of 7 years in a managerial position; with demonstrable experience in using skills and judgement to assess and approve credit risk. Should have a good knowledge of credit-related contract law. Experience with trade receivables management and collection very desirable.

Location: Oman

Compensation : Commensurate with candidate caliber and experience with usual tax-free salary and perks applicable to Gulf region

Role Responsibilities & Requirements :

- The Group Credit Head/ Group Credit Controller heads and leads the Group Credit Department, and is accountable to CFO for all aspects of Receivables management

- Recommends credit policy, designs / develops and implements procedures, and manages and monitors the Group/ company’s risk assessment and management as well as credit and collections processes, ensures all credit accounts are well controlled and that all outstanding monies owed to the Group/ company are collected

- Initiates recovery actions against delinquents and manages recovery processes including legal actions, manages, monitors, guides and develops the Credit team, including Bill Collectors, responsible for recruitment selection, and for ensuring training and development of personnel working in the department

- Evaluates performance, ensures credit policies are followed in all transactions referred to and requiring the department’s approval, also responsible for information flows at all relevant levels, including receivable and collection reports, carries out day-to-day collection of debts with an especially-close and direct responsibility for large accounts and for any overdue debt, while managing escalations to reduce debtor days

- Ensures that new accounts are credit-worthy, puts in place measures to review and verify credit/loan applications/applicants and ensures that the Group/company and its client(s) trade with each other according to agreed and approved terms, carries out periodical credit reviews of existing customers, including renewing or amending approved credit limits and terms

- Negotiates terms and other trade conditions with clients, including where required special offers including discounts, to maximize cash flow benefits, a history of accomplishments in the field, GCC experience would be an added advantage

- Excellent communication skills required for liaising with debtors and with staff across all levels, fluency in English is essential, knowledge of other languages, principally Arabic, is desirable, knowledge of written Arabic an added advantage, an ability to drive, with a valid light vehicle driving licence
