Job Description
Senior Research Managers lead teams of up to 30 analysts/ team leaders and managers to conduct financial and business research to support and manage clients and contribute to internal knowledge building efforts as well as business development initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Managing clients and projects for the assigned teams
- Assist and manage one or more clients and/or lead research delivery team members in conducting financial analysis, sector analysis, business valuations (DCF, relative valuations), LBOs, merger consequence analysis and business combinations. Outputs typically include in-depth qualitative and quantitative company and industry reports, financial models, quarterly earnings updates, material events update, among others.
- Provide guidance on the above concepts and coach the analysts team in delivery of work to the client
- Track and maintain knowledge on specified sectors and support Knowledge Management initiatives
- Manage and review deliverables
- Ensure quality levels are maintained keeping in mind the larger picture from the perspective of the Equity analysis / Investment Banking / buy side clients etc.
- Craft effective search strategies and gather relevant information and data leveraging a broad set of resources (e.g., on-line databases, Bloomberg, the Internet, print sources, trade associations, government agencies, company representatives, external research organization, etc). Utilize both secondary and primary research sources and techniques
- Communicate research results through the creation of structured end-products (spreadsheets, presentations, company research, industry reports, etc.)
- Complete one or more ad hoc research, knowledge building and business development projects as necessary

General Qualifications:
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be inquisitive and have superior problem-solving, analytical and quantitative and financial analysis skills. It is essential that the candidate have an established track record of leading teams, creatively retrieving and analyzing complex business information as well as an ability to synthesize information from diverse sources and present findings in a clear and concise fashion.
Key skill set includes –
- Knowledge of financial modeling and valuation techniques
- Prior experience in report writing and/ or financial reporting
- Good understanding of latest financial market developments
- Strong analytical skills
- Passion for numbers
- Eye for detail
- Excellent written / verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong people management skills
- Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting with demanding deadlines in a team setting is strongly preferred
